"THE NEW PLACE" is the name applied to the creative ventures generated, underwritten and/or delivered by Robin Johnson, a Twin Cities actress, director, producer and teacher. The New Place has originated full-scale theatrical productions including the area premiere of Timothy Findley's award-winning drama, Elizabeth Rex (St. Paul) and a dinner theater version of Molière's slapstick comedy, The Doctor In Spite Of Himself (Minneapolis). The New Place also produced the world premiere of Senses and Sorrows --- literature in performance which celebrated the life of Elizabeth Custer, (Bismarck, ND). More recently, The New Place has co-produced a radio version of Noel Coward's classic romance, Brief Encounter. TNP's artistic collaborations include Commedia Beauregard (Chicago) and Lakes Area Theatre (Alexandria, MN).
The New Place serves as an entirely independent entity and is not considered a 501(c). It exists to explore creative avenues and to celebrate the talent it encounters, be it on a stage, in a classroom or on the Internet.
