The New Place

The Doctor In Spite Of Himself 10th Anniversary

Long ago... or perhaps not so long ago The New Place (then operating under the name of Theatre Triomphe) produced "the little show that could". It was a show that survived the greatest national tragedy in a generation and more than one personal tragedy which rocked those involved. But through it all, the cast and crew prevailed and delivered up a rollicking comedy triumph which charmed the crowds --- even the night of the Great March Snowstorm.

Here then is an online celebration of the 10th anniversary of a remarkable theatrical success and a nod of gratitude to all the folks who shared their talent and commitment to producing a lovely night of theater.

I cherish you all!

Ben adds: " I was married on 10/10/10 to a wonderful man. I've continued to teach, and now I am working on a Masters in Special Education."

Jen married Chad Stone four years ago and now has two children, Morgan (2 1/2) and Max ( 1 ) For several years, Jen and Chad played with the band, Metrobilly where they covered classics and sang some original material as well. Additionally, Jen ran karaoke shows for a few years and reports to being "only slightly scarred from that experience."

Doctor was my Jen's foray into the Twin Cities scene after moving to MN from WI. Following that, she did back-to-back shows for a few years. Currently, she is on the Arts Commission for Coon Rapids but would like to start auditioning again when her kids are older.

"For now, Morgan is more than happy to direct me: 'Ok, Mommy, now you say, 'Oh no, Princess Morgan is running away!' She even gives line readings if I don't do it quite right. I told her that actors hate that, but she's a tyrant."

Although she experienced some life-altering hardships, including the death of her father, (who produced and directed the original "Doctor") she managed to prevail and return to the Twin Cities to begin her true vocation: teaching. Robin suspects she'll return to theater sooner than later but for now, with lesson planning dominating her very being.... she is too darn tired!

But she now reports that: she is happily employed as a receptionist at a church, has moved to 80 year old renewed apartment building, need to undergo foot surgery soon but should be back and ready for new projects in the spring!
